I expect that eventually, as more games are released, the file will become a small book. The file is currently 2870 lines long (at 66 lines / page) = 44 pages. I've listed below the magazines that were used for this file so that readers with other issues or missing magazines can add to this file. Feel free to add to this file, but if you do list your changes in the section below. And for those who are too lazy to type in the cheats, mail Xerox's of magazine cheats (Super Nintendo pages too for a similar cheat file) to the address listed below. I will type them in. One final note. Sometimes you will see a set of passwords that doesn't work on your version of the game. Remember that in many cases there is a Japanese version of the game. Since I used American magazines, the cheats in this file are for the USA released version. Also since I don't own most of these games, I haven't verified that the cheats work. Press START. A level select screen will appear that can transport you almost anywhere in the game. Extra Missles - Before you reach the refueling plane, do the following: For levels 3, 13, and 16, push Left and B. For levels 5, 11, and 21, push Right and B. For levels 9 and 19, just push B. If you pushed these and nothing appears instantly, you did something wrong. Continue Game - To continue a game after losing your last plane, press Left 3 times, B 3 times, and C 3 times. Then press start. Reverse Controls - To reverse your plane's controls, hold down both A and B on controller 2 and push Start on controller 1. AIR DIVER ========= Secret Modes - Start the game and go to an area on the map with no enemies. Hold START and Press A, B, C, B, A, A, B, C, B, A, B. Let go of START for invinciblity, hold A for fight ace, hold B for the mothership and hold C for the last Boss. Continue to hold as designated while you leave the hanger. Once the round begins, let go of the buttons. General Secrets - On the mission select Screen, move the crosshair to a place on the map that's not an area. Hold down START and press A B C B A A B C B A B. Release START and you'll hear a soft ping. Now move the crosshair to an area you wish to attack and hold down START to be invincible, A to square off against the Fighter Ace, B to fight the Super Carrier, and C to go right to the Last Fighter. You have to hold down the until the area begins. Note that you can hold down START with any of the others; for example, hold down START and C to take on the Last Fighter and be indestructible. ALADDIN ======= Level Skip - Press START to pause the game. Then press A, B, B, A, A, B, B and then A. You'll hear a sound. Then the screen will fade and you will go to the next level. You can repeat often until you reach the level of choice. ALIEN 3 ======= Level Skip - On Options screen using joypad #2, press C, UP, RIGHT, DOWN, LEFT, A, RIGHT and DOWN. You will kear power-up sound. After you begin the game you can skip levels by pausing the game and pressing C, A, B before unpausig the game. You will see a row of small green dots all across the screen. Press START to skip to the next level. ALIEN STORM =========== Stay Alive After You Die - To do this trick, you must have enough energy to do your special move. First you must be the robot, Scooter. When you die, use its special attack move and it will end up with no energy, but it will not be dead. Do this trick every time you die, and (if you are good enough to power up your life again) you will not lose any lives. ALISIA DRAGOON ============== Warp to Diferent Stages - Switch on the Sega abd wheb the Sega logo disappears hold don button A until the words Game Arts vanishes. Now hold down B until Gainax disappears. Hold down C until Music Composed By goes and press START when the stars erupt from the crystal. Start the game as usual then press C on joypad 2. If you've done everything correctly the screen should go blank. You can either just sit back and wait for the next level to start, or you can try one of these combinations. C - Warp to stage one B - Warp to stage two B & C - warp to stage three A - Warp to stage four A & C - Warp to stage five A & B - Warp to stage six A, B & C - Warp to stage seven START - Warp to stage eight More Cheats - Press A on pad 2 at any point during the game. This will pause the action and let you try out the following cheats: Pad two: B - Carry on playing Pad one: Up, Pad two B - Loads of hit points Pad one: Left, Pad 2: B - Raise lighening level Pad one: Right, Pad 2: B - Increase current monster's level Pad one: Lightening button, Pad two: B - Power up lightening Pad one: Monster select button, Pad two: B - immortality ALTERED BEAST ============= Change Characters - To change your alter ego, at the title screen, press the pad DOWN and LEFT while holding all three buttons and press START. Level Select - At the title screen, hold B and press START for a play select menu and when selecting a round, hold A and press START to choose it. Sound Test - At the title screen, press UP and RIGHT while holding A and C buttons, and then press START for a sound test. ARCH RIVALS =========== Gain Possession of Ball - You can automatically take possession of the ball at the beginning of the quarter when playing against the computer. Before the game starts, when you are shown the locker room, hold button A and press START while still holding it to get into game. When the tip off starts, you will automatically hit the ball to your other player. To do this trick in the other quarters, just hold the A button during the commentator's screen and the halftime show. ARNOLD PALMER GOLF ================== Secret Tournament - There is a secret tournament in this game. Enter the lower case "f" across the top portion of the password box and enter a "9" across the bottom portion. Do this, and you will be in a new tournament with a different caddy, who tells you much more than the one in the game. Hidden Game - To enter the hidden game, hit 100 strokes on any hole. Then, during the "Game Over" screen, press UP, Up, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, and then START until the game begins. ARROW FLASH =========== Invinciblity - At the option mode, change Arrow Flash from Stock to Charge. Wait for the demo to play (after the story demo) and then hit START until the game begins. Each time you press C for three to five seconds, you will become invincible for ten minutes. Unlimited Arrow Flashes - Here's a way to arrow flash your way through an entire stage. Go to the option screen and change the Arrow Flash from Stock to Charge. Exit the option screen and let the demo play all the way through once. Now start the game, and press C to activate the arrow flash. Hold C down, and your arrow flash will last a very long time. Sometimes it will go out at the midpoint of a stage, but just press and hold C to reactivate it. This way, you can zip though the entire game! BACK TO THE FUTURE 3 ==================== Skip Stages - Pause the game at any point and simultanously press these buttons together in the following order: UP and A, DOWN and A, LEFT and A, RIGHT and A. BATMAN RETURNS ============== Extra Lives - Play up to the 5th stage until you get to the second platform at the top. Now walk off the left side and fall in a straight line. You'll pick up three 1-ups and lose one life. Maximum lives is 9. BATMAN - REVENGE OF THE JOKER ============================= Level Select - Press START at the title screen and then move the bat to the passcode option. Press the START button. Enter the code 5257. Press the A button and a bunch of symbols that look like mushrooms will appear at the bottom. Move the pad LEFT and over the first number in the code. You will now be able to enter codes for every level. For example: Enter the code 6300 and you will be able to get to level 6-3. The first two numbers are the level and section. The second two numbers must be zeros. Levels 1, 3, 4 & 6 have three stages each, while levels 2, 5 & 7 only have two stages each. BATTLETOADS =========== Warp to Level 3 - To do this trick, you must be very quick! The trick is actually easier with two players, so try this with a friend using the second pad to control the other toad. In the beginning of the first level, Battletoad Butt (headbutt) the two pigs that appear and then quicckly run over to the first platform on the right. Jump onto the platform and there will be a glowing warp. Move into the warp and you will get a screen that tells you that you can advance two levels! Make sure that you are quick enough with this trick, or the warp will disappear. BIOHAZARD BATTLE ================ Level Select - Wait until the SEGA logo appears, and press and hold the C button. While still holding the C button, press these buttons in this order: UP, DIAGONALLY UP-RIGHT, RIGHT, DIAGONALLY DOWN-RIGHT, DOWN, DIAGONALLY DOWN-LEFT, LEFT, DIAGONALLY UP-LEFT, AND UP. Essentially you are making a clockwise circle starting from the top of the pad. Press START and the stage select screen will appear. Choose you stage. You should now be inpervious to damage until you collect some treasure. BUBSY ===== Chapter Passwords - At the title screen, press Select. Move to the Password entry and press Select again. Now enter the password of your choice, press Select, then Start. Then hit START. BUSTER DOUGLAS BOXING ===================== Sound Test - To listen to the sounds of the game, press START on controller 2 at the game select screen. Press and hold DOWN on the controller and press the A button to play the music. Move to the sound effects and after the first one, press RIGHT for more. Demand a Rematch - You can demand a rematch from any boxer by pressing Up, B, and Start at the same time. You can only use this once with each boxer. CASTLE OF ILLUSION ================== Max Out Your Lives - Play the game until you are on level 2-2. Just before you get to the exit, you will see a Jack-In-The-Box. Kill him, walk to the left and you will get a bag of power-ups and 1000 points. Now walk back to the right and stop at the question mark. Go back to the left to get another 1000 points. Mickey gets an extra life every 50,000 points, so repeat this trick until you have 10 lives. Extra Life - When you finish a level, press START as fast as you can while the game adds up your score. Do it fast enough and you'll hear the extra life "ring". Ghost Mickey - Hold down A, B, and C, then press Start. You will now be able to fly through the air, walls, enemies, and items! Repeat to return to normal. CENTURIAN: DEFENDER OF ROME =========================== Passcode - Enter this code on the save game screen to have control of many ancient countries and one fleet of ships. BN4Q AUIV W6IQ ZCA5 555S 73IJ CHAKAN ====== Skip the first 4 stages - You can do this trick in practice, easy and hard modes. Try the practice mode because you get unlimited potions. Start the game, then walk right and down stairs onto the platform. Continue right until you reach a small floating platform. Jump onto the platform and use the potion for a portal (right side group of potions - bottom left one). It is the only potion you can use from the choices. When you use the potion, it will make a thunderous sound. Once you do this, you will have access to all the weapons, and be able to go to every level, even the last four stages. CHUCK ROCK ========== Level Skip - At the Title screen (while the band is playing), press these buttons in this order: A, B, RIGHT, A, C, A, DOWN, B, RIGHT, A. After you do this, press and hold buttons A, B, and C and press the START button. While you are in the starting level, press UP while hoolding the A button. This will advance you to the next level. Eventually you will reach the last stage where you will be able to fight the last bosss by pressing RIGHT and button A at the same time. This will give you the advantage to win the game. Paralysed with Fear - If Chuck is paralysed with fear at the roar of the sabre-toothed tiger, hold down RIGHT and press C to get him moving again. COOL SPOT ======== Level Skip - In any level of the game, press the START button to pause the game and then do this code with controller 1: A, B, C, B, A, C, A, B, C, B, A, C. After this is done, you will hear a tone which indicates that the trick has worked. Immediately afterwards you will see the "Level Completed" screen. Then you will advance to the next level. Level Select - Pause the game first then press: C, A, B, C, B, A, C, A, B, C, B, A, C. CRUE BALL ========= Level Select - Go to the Music Demo screen and select tune 6, "Twisted Flipper." Press A, C, A, B, then push START. Begin your game as usual and wait for the ball to appear. When it does, hold Up on the directional pad and press the B button to rotate through the different levels. CYBORG JUSTICE ============== Secret Option Menu - First start your game. Next make your cyborg in the assembly room. Go into the actual game and pause it after you begin game play. At this point, press these buttons very quickly in this order: C, B, B, C, C, A, C, B. If you have done this correctly (keep trying) a brand new options screen will appear. Now you can change your weapon, select your level, increase your lives up to 255, restart the level, choose the game mode, add or take away players, record your own demo and much more. DEADLY MOVES ============ Last Boss Password - The code is for the final match against the infamous Ranker! Start a one-player game and once you get to the Password screen, enter the following code: EYV G9DG 2Q7. You will then be faced with the toughest challenge of all. DECAPATTACK =========== Airwalk and Life Refill - Here are methods that you can use together. The first is the airwalk. Press the C button rapidly after you jump. Use the airwalk to position yourself over one of the red poles found in the game and then drop straight down onto it. Each time you do this, you will gain a half of your heart life back and one of the segments on the pole will trun white. Bypass the Boss - As you approach the last fall before Toady, the second round Boss, float to the ledge on the left, then jump from ledge to ledge until you see the sign that says you have cleared the round. Be careful, though. You must get the special item before you leave the level. If you fail to do this, you will have to go back to the level and find the item, plus you will run into the second round Boss! DESERT STRIKE ============= Mission Codes - Access the password option by pressing A. Campaign #2 - BQJZAEX Campaign #3 - TLJAOAZ Campaign #4 - ITOIPEK Two Extra Lives - To add two lives to your current three, enter TQQLOM on the password screen. You can then start the game, or put in your own level code to start on higher levels. Seven Extra Lives - Start the game with ten copters by entering the code: BQQQAEZ. Attack of Ambassador's Camp in Campaign #3 - 1) Get plenty of armor. 2) Take out the radar - down and to the right of the road approaching the camp. 3) Fly straight up the road towards the camp. 4) Take out the M-38 with two Hellfires. 5) Hang a left on the next street and an immediate right around the building. 6) Right around the building will be a tank and a Rapier/SAM gun. 7) Collect the ambassador - he is under one of the buildings (random). Extra Help: Campaign One: There are a few things not mentioned in the manual. Mission 1-2: When you're ordered to destroy the power station, take out the extra pylons, too. These earn you extra points and often have bonuses underneath. Mission 1-3: Stay on alert! APHID missile launchers appear when you destroy the last hanger so arm your missiles. Mission 1-4: Don't worry about the northern command center. You only need to destroy the southern one to complete the mission. The fast winch can be found in the top corner of the lower square made by the roads in the town. Campaign Two: Mission 2-2: Watch the buildings for flashes of light. These are MIA's trying to signal to you. Destroy the buildings with your cannons, then pick up the soldier. Mission 2-4: It takes ages to destroy the chemical plant. Fortunately there is extra fuel under a rock in the north. Mission 2-6: The guard towers around the POW camp are particularly dangerous, so destroy these before you attempt to rescue any prisioners. Campaign Three: TV Crew: Always enter the city from the south-west if you want to catch the defenders napping. The TV crew are at the center of the largest city. Collect them and destroy their van. There are plenty of supplies under the western most building. Mission 3-1: There are additional MIAs in the buildings near the UN teams Mission 3-2: Take out the AAA defences first and don't forget to pick up the scientists. There's a storage tank to the far west, so don't miss it. Mission 3-3: The best way to duster the silos is by using 17 cannons and 5 Hydras. Shot at whatever is left with your cannons. Mission 3-4: In your first attack shoot off six Hydras at one boat then leave them behind, trun around and come back to finish it off. Don't forget to pick up the pilots. Mission 3-6: Go in slowly so you can destroy enemy vehicles as you see them. Use two Hellfires to kill the chopper and Hydras on the boats. Shoot the right side of the yacht with your cannon. Collect the hostages in groups of six. Mission 3-7: Destroy the radar sites first as they relay information on your position to the guns. Destroy the building with the flag outside and pick up the guy who runs out. Mission 3-8: Destroy the three helicopters first. Blow up all the other defences and land on the X. Escorting the bus is difficult as it only moves when you're on screen. Fly just ahead of it and shoot everything that appears. When it reaches its destination, pick up your co-pilot. Campaign Four: The mission takes a heavy toll on your ammunition, so occasionally head to the north-west of the map to resupply. Mission 4-1: The oil fields are guarded by three ZSUs each. Destroy these first. If you're running low on ammo, it's possible to trick the ZSUs into shooting the tanks themselves. There is a fast winch at the center of the northern oil field. Mission 4-4: You can tell the garbage trucks apart from those carrying missiles by looking at their backs. There are also two extra lives secreted under the buildings. Mission 4-5: Once again destroy the radar sites first. There's one to the south of the factory and one near the landing zone. Mission 4-7: Destroy the buildings to find an extra life. When you've destroyed the palace, land on the pad. Mission 4-8: Grab all the ammo you can, then head for the bomber. Let loose on it with everything you have. There are plenty of additional ammo crates lying around so you shouln't run out of missiles. DEVILISH ======== 99 Balls - If you want a stock of 99 balls in your arsenal, go to the title screen and hold buttons A, C and LEFT on the control pad. When you press START you will have 99 balls in your possession. You need to hold this combination even as you choose 1 or 2 players for the cheat to work. DRAGON'S FURY ============= 99 Balls & 13 million points - Enter the following password: VFELFO78TL That is the letter O in the password. 73 balls and 505 million points - Enter UUBV99BQRE 21 balls and end of game sequence - Enter ALCLAE8ECK DYNAMITE DUKE ============= Super Options Menu - Put the cursor over the OPTIONS text and press "C" ten times. Then press START and you'll get the SUPER OPTIONS menu (which includes a stage select). ECCO THE DOLPHIN ================ Immortality - Get a level start screen by using the password system. Hold START and A together until the level begins. The game will pause. Release A and unpause with START. Sharkfin Code - When you start the game, swim to the left to acess the Password screen. When you are there, put in the code, SHARFIN. Press START, and the description will tell taht you are in the lagoon area. Your sonar will now freeze jellyfish, and you will have no need to come up for air. Unlimited Air Supply - Plug in the password LIFEFISH then press START to begin the game. You now have unlimited air and the breath meter never moves. Release the A button, but do not hit any of the wizards or take any magic books. Wait until the next stage and you will be able to use magic spells whenever you want. Extra Magic - You can only get this option for player 1 and you must be using the SPECIAL magic option. Upon hearing the music before the first BOSS (the Big Red Minotaur), hold down but do not release the C Button. Your new tank will be able to fly around and attack from outside the ship. This only lasts until the timer expires. GREENDOG ======== Secret Room - There is a secret room on the first Aztec temple. Before the first pedal copter level, while jumping over the springs that nail you to spikes on the ceiling, ride the last spring and pull right. You will travel through the spikes and find three treasure chests worth mondo points. To get down just walk left. Two Secret Chambers - These are located just before the boss in Curacao. Go to the far left and jump through the wall to find a continue, while leaping through the far right wall yields an extra life. Extra Continues - First is get to the caverns on the first level. Pass the first gargoyle by lobbing a frisbee in its mouth. Now keep going right, jump over the gaps, onto the spring and land on the platform on the left. You should find a treasure chest containing an extra life and a continue. Collect them both and kill Dog. When you return to that room, you will find that the extra life and continue have reappeared. Three Flying Discs - To snag three rapid-fire discs, pause your game any time during play by pressing Start. Then press Button C, A, B, A, Left, then Left. If you hear a ringing sound, the trick worked. Slow Motion - Begin a regular game, then press Start to pause the game. Next, press Down, Button A, C, Up, Left, then Left. When the screen says press START, you should press button A and START together to pull up the Configuration screen. Now highlight the number of ships and set the number to zero. Then Start the game and you will have 99 lives. Configuration Screen - Press any button plus Start (can be done at the SEGA logo, title animation, or during the demo.) to bring up the Configuration screen. The configuration screen will let you set controls, # of ships, difficulty, sound & music selections. Full Power-Up - This will give you full weapons to ensure destruction of your enemies. First pause the game during play, and do this code with the pad and buttons on controller 1: UP, RIGHT, A, DOWN, RIGHT, A, C, LEFT, UP, B. Now press UP to add all weapons, RIGHT to add or remove the claw. Select a weapon (with C) and push DOWN (I think) to remove it. (An easy way to memorize the sequence is that the last four presses give the acronym "club", the first six are easy to remember.) Now press START and you can use any weapon. High Score Stars - When entering your initials at the high scores screen, you can control the movement of the stars with the joypad. Weapons - Pause the game and enter this sequence: UP, RIGHT, A, DOWN, RIGHT, A, C, LEFT, UP, B. Co-Pilot - Control Pad 2 will also command the ship. Free Points - At the beginning of Stage 9 (shortly after the first power up) a white blob-ish enemy will appear crawling on the bottom of the screen. It will jump up at you. If it grabs on to your ship it won't kill you, but it will weigh you down for a while and go away and give you about 10,000 points. MARVEL LAND =========== Stage Select - When in the Normal Mode, simply enter the password screen and use the code ARDE. If you want to play in the Digest Mode, you should input the code GIL AND KI. Once this is done you will be transported to a level select screen where you are offered the round of your choice. MASTER OF MONSTERS ================== End sequence -Press A, B, C then START to see end sequence. MERCS ===== Faster Enemies - To enter a really challenging game, go to the original mode and press A, B, and C at the same time. While holding these down, press Start and you will enter a tough battle, as your enemies are now faster (as well as more intelligent). MIDNIGHT RESISTANCE =================== Stage Select - At the title screen, hold button C and press START. When you begin playing, press START to pause. While paused, hit button A to advance a level. Advancing past the last stage gives you the High Scores Screen. MIG 29 ====== Password for All Missions - Enter the following code at the bottom of the Mission Select Screen and new missions will apear. WEX BJO ISG IITES MIGHT & MAGIC ============= Free Food - In your list of commands, select (Share and then Food). Do this several times and your entire party's food supply will increase. You may also go beyond the limit of 40 units with this trick. Secret Treasure Technique - In order to do this trick you have to place two hirelings in your party. Once you have two hirelings, go and get attacked by the enemy. After you beat the enemy, dismiss one of your hirelings and search for the treasure chest. When you open the treasure chest, you will find a nice surprise inside (lots of gold, gems, and powerful weapons). MOONWALKER ========== Stage Select - To select any stage but 6, hold UP, LEFT, and button A on controller 2. Then push START on controller 1 and select a one player game. After pushing START, you will see the words "Round 1." Press LEFT or RIGHT to select the levels and press START. MORTAL KOMBAT ============= Arcade Mode - Wait for the "code" screen to appear in the game - its the one that says, "The word 'code' has many different definitions," etc. Press A, B, A, C, A, B, B, and you will hear Scorpion say, "Get over here!" as the letters turn blood-red. You've just activated "Mode A," with all the fatalities and blood effects intact. Ultra-violent Finishing Moves - These moves will wipe out the competion. They won't be bloody unless you enter the above code. Also, each move should be done when you're close to an opponent. When the Game Start/Options Screen appears, press Down, Up, Left, Left, Button A, Right and Down. (That spells DULLARD). Once the code is entered the words "Cheat Enabled" appear underneath the word "Options." Choose the Cheat option, then you can access all kinds of tricks. Fighter 1 & 2: Use this to select which of seven Kombatants you want to use for the various options below: Plan Base - Random, One, Two, Three, or Four: This probably accesses the computer's basic strategies for fighting human opponents. Chop-Chop: Choose from the five bonus round substances (Wood, Stone, Steel, Ruby, Diamond) for the "Test Your Might" demo. 1-Play and 2-Play Chop: Determines how often the player is given a chance to "Test Your Might." X0 is not at all, X1 is after every match, X2 is after every two matches, etc. Demo: This option enables you to view the Cameo, Biographies (ending stories), and Battle Play for the current Fighter 1. Chop-Chop enables you to paly the "Test Your Might" bonus round with the currently selected fighters. Choosing Medal will show you the pre-match screen for a two-player game, using the arena and players currently selected. Press Button A, B, or C to begin choosen demo. Blood: This turns the blood on or off! Cheat: This turns the Cheat Mode on or off. 1st Map: This option eneables you to choose the forum for your first fight. If you choose the Pit, you'll automatically have the opportunity to fight Reptile. Flag 0: This option cripples Player 2. It takes only one attack by Player 1 to defeat Player 2. The exception is when Goro, who won't be crippled in his first fight, but will be in the second and third fights. Flag 1: Cripples Player 1 in the same manner. Flag 2: Go staight to Reptile! This activates the various characters that scroll across the moon above the Pit - including Peter Pan, Wendy and Michael, a Witch, Santa and his Sleigh, a Rocket Ship, and a Blimp. If the palyer activates this option and defeats the opponent in the Pit with a Double Flawless and a Finishing Move, Reptile will appear ready to fight. Flag 3: Activate this flag, then choose the Pit as your first map back- ground. The initials BYC and a bouncing face will scroll across the Pit's moon. (This activates the Reptile Mode as well.) Choose the Pit as your first fight, or this option won't work. Flag 4: Activate this flag and you'll receive Reptile clue messages before every match. Your opponent will be crippled in the second and third rounds only. Flag 5: This flag gives you unlimited continues. Flag 6: This flag makes the computer characters always execute their Finishing Moves. Flag 7: Activate this flag to only fight in the Courtyard against unusually tough opponents. MUHAMMAD ALI CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING ================================ Fight the Wierd Looking Muhammad Ali - On the options screen press START. Then choose a one player game and Tournament game mode. Move down, highlight "Enter Saved Game" and put "YES". Press START and put in either of these passwords to have 33 wins, 0 loses and fight the strange Muhammad Ali. When the cheerleaders come on the screen, aim your bombs with the cursor button and press the C button to fire. Pressing the A button causes the crowd to cheer and pressing the B button makes them boo. Make your own halftime show with this trick. If you destroy the mutants, it will give you a funny message! PIT FIGHTER =========== Two Player Practice Mode - Start off the practice mode with one player and have the second player join in after you have started fighting. All three (the two players and the computer opponent) will have to fight it out to see who is the last one standing. Extra Continues - Play the character to Match 8, where you fight Mad Miles for the second tim. Pause the game and plug in controller 2. Unpause the game and then press START on the second controller. Withcontroller 2, select your fighter and you will have three extra continues. Beat up your former fighter and use your current one to take you through the remaining matches. Secret Options Mode - Wait until the Title Screen appears, then simultanously press buttons A, B and C. When the Options screen appears, you can adjust each player's skill level, try a Practice Mode, or listen to a Sound Test. POWERBALL ========= Play Four New Teams - In the first player league, pause the game. Press B, B, C, B, B, C. You will hear a bell. At this time, push DOWN on the controller and you will be able to select four more teams that are not normally revealed. Sound Test - Go into the League Continue Mode and select China as your team. Proceed until you reach the first large stack of barrels. The last barrel on the second row holds a 1-Up. Now every time you leave the castle and return, you can add an extra duck. Beating the Bosses: Dracula - Save your popcorn and open fire when Dracula opens his cape. You'll normally be able to kill most of the bats and hit Drac in one shot. The Tiger - Before you fight the Tiger boss you have to find your way through the maze and here is how to do it. Room 1: Drop down the left side of the screen and go through the second door. Room 5: Go through the first door which is above the chicken. Room 4: Climb up the right wall and exit the first door. Room 2: Head left, jump over the first door, climb the wall and go through the first door tou find. Room 6: Keep going right until you reach the passage. Halfway along is a gap, jump through it to find the door which leads to the Tiger. To destroy the Tiger fire a plunger at the wall opposite him, jump onto it and fire a plunger at the Tiger when he leaps. If he goes to one of the top platforms stand beneath him so he can't hit you. Big Bad Pete - Jump on the right-hand platform, jump and chuck a plunger at Pete's head. Slide across to the other side of the screen. When Pete comes for you, slide back to the right of the screen and repeat the process again. Viking Ghost - Wait until the Viking is just about to chuck his axe, then launch a plunger at his head. When his head slides toward you, jump up and fire on the way down to catch him again. Keep doing this until you beat him. The Swordsman - Shoot the plunger at the wall and stand on it to avoid the rocks. Launch one at the Swordsman and dash to the other side of the screen and repaeat the process. RANGER X ======== Level Skip - First pause the game in the middle of any level. Now press these buttons in the exact order with Controller 1: UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, C, B, A, RIGHT, LEFT. At this point the music will begin again. Now press the B button and the screen will fade away and then start you in the next level. Repeat this trick in any level to skip to the next. SHINNING FORCE ============== Name Every Character - The advantage of naming all of the characters in the game is that you can recognize them with names that you select when you meet and talk to characters during play. To do this you must first start with a new game and name your character. After you are done, go to "END" and press these buttons on the controllers. On controller 2, hold A,B, C and press START. On controller 1, press A, C and START at the same time. A new char- acter will appear. Name the character and another will appear. This will happen until you have named every character. SHINOBI III =========== Unlimited Shurikins - At the Title screen, choose the Options selection. In the Options move down to the S.E. command and set the sound to "Shuriken." Now move back to the command, Shuriken and set them to 00. Stay on this option and wait to it turns into an infinite symbol (a figure 8 tipped horizontally). Invinciblity - At the Title screen, move the cursor to Options and press Start. There you will find a 1-up and the Power Sneakers. Hidden 1-Ups - There are five hidden 1-Ups in the game. The first one is in Zone 1, Act 1. You play until you reach the first bed of spikes. After you crosss the pit, the second tree has the prize. The second one is on the boss level of Zone 1. Just fall on the second canyon and you will find the extra guy. A third in Zone 2, Act 3 is straight to your left at the start. Then the jungle has the fourth one in Zone 3, Act 3. Before you start to jump on the green platform and make your way to the top, go to the right until you get to the water. Jump in, go right, and get the 1-Up. The last one is hidden in the water in Zone 4, Act 3. You encounter a spring that takes you up into a long room hidden in the top left course. In that room will be rows of spikes. Jump them safely and get the last 1-Up. Get All Emeralds - This cheat allows you to start at the First Level with all the Emeralds, and with lots of Continues. Use the Stage Select cheat (see above) to get to the Special Zone. When you get the Emerald, and have entered into the First Zone, press RESET. Use the Stage Select cheat to get to the Special Zone again. When you get the next Emerald, and have entered the First Zone, press RESET again. When you finally have all the Emeralds DO NOT press RESET, just continue on with First Level. You get to keep the Emeralds and the Continues accumulated so far. ( Control Mode ) At the Title Screen, press U, C, D, C, L, C, R. Or, if that doesn't work, try this: Quickly type 4 C press U, D, L, R repeatedly until you hear a chime. This will give you special techniques during games: While paused, pressing A will reset the game, pressing B will allow you to play in slow-motion (while B is held down), and pressing C will advance the game one frame at a time. Confused Demo - You can confuse Sonic during the demo by pressing all three action buttons repeatedly. Sonic will lose his place in the pattern and possibly even die. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 ==================== Level Select - Go to the Title screen, then Options screen. Highlight the sound select test box. With the pad, change the number of the sound test and play them with the B button in this order: 19, 65, 9 and 17. When you play song 17 you will hear a distintive ring sound at the beginning of the song. Press START to exit back to the title screen. When the title screen appears, hold A button and press START and you will see the level select screen. Instant Golden Sonic - To begin with all of the Chaos Emeralds already collected, use the Level Select trick above then highlight the new Sound Test Option with the cursor. Play the following sounds: 4, 1, 2, 6. Choose any level and begin your game. When you have grabbed 50 rings, you'll turn into a Golden Sonic. Super Sonic - If you highlight the sound test box on the Options screen and play the sounds in this order with the B button: 4, 1, 2 & 6. Choose any level and when you collect 50 rings and you jump into the air, you become Super Sonic. Press START then A to exit the level. Debug Mode - If you highlight the sound test box on the Options screen and play the sounds in this order with the B button: 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4 (Sonic Tuesday). Highlight stage, hold button A and press START to enter level. While in a level, it is possible to change into an object. Press B button to change objects and C buuton to duplicate objects. 2 Player Game on 1 Player Screen - Go to the options by pressing the pad DOWN twice on the title screen. Make sure you are playing "Sonic and Tails". Go into the game and using controller 2, move the pad in any direction, or press any button and you will see that you can move Tails anywhere on the screen separately from Sonic! This will make it easier to work as a team and complete the game. Also since Tails can not die, you can use him to defeat the bosses and just have Sonic avoid them. If you want to go back to the one player mode, just leave Tails alone and he will go back to following Sonic. Change into Super Sonic - You can change yourself into Super Sonic with the following method. This is best accomplished with two players. Go into the first level, collect 50 rings, and find the nearest Star Pole. Touch it and jump up in the rotating stars to enter the bonus level. Use two players and collect all the rings necessary to get the Chaos Emerald. Once you grab it, press the Reset button on the Genesis. When the title screen appears, go into the Options, and then press START to get to the first level again. Repeat the exact same process over and over and you will see that the bonus stages cahange, and you get different emeralds each time. Once you collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds, go back into that level. Now what you must do, is collect 50 rings and jump into the air. Wow! You are now Super Sonic! He can jump faster and jump higher than before. His rings go down every second, so stock up. 14 Extra Continues - Scroll down and access the options from the title screen. Press START and the options screen will appear. Move down to the sound test and play these songs in this order: 01, 01, 02, 04. Now move up to the box that says "Player Select Sonic & Tails". Highlight the box and then press START. Get into the game and you will eventually die. After the "Game Over" comes on the screen, the continue screen will appear with 14 Sonic continue symbols. Song #4 will play throughout the whole game with no sound effects. Get All Chaos Emeralds - Start the game as you normally would. Get a chaos emerald, reset the game, and start the game from the options menu. You will keep the emeralds you have gained so far each time you start from the options menu. Super Tails - While in DEBUG mode, pick the monitor. It should be a transfer box. When you hit it and you are Super Sonic, you lose all your powers but stay yellow. Tails looks the same but has invincibility (little stars flashing around him). SPACE INVADERS '91 ================== Stage Select - On the title screen, hold down A and C and press Start. The screen will fade, and there will be a short pause before the first level. Quickly press B, A, C. A level selector will appear. STRIDER ======= Dipodal Saucer Robots - Have the Dipodal Saucer robots through the whole game. First get 2 robots (2 of your life bars will be read). Late in the first stage you'll come to a container with the robot panther in it. Do not touch it! Make sure you are shot once by the enemy, then go back and activate the panther. The panther will leave and your original Dipodal Saucers will appear. They will stay with you, even if you die. The only way to lose them is by falling off the screen or using a continue. Unlimited Lives - Place your Altered Beast cartridge in the Genesis console and turn on the game. When the Title Screen appears, pull the cartridge out. These bonus rounds are entered by finding and touching a circular rainbow symbol (the same circular rainbow as on the title screen). There's one symbol hidden in each of the game's seven stages. The first bonus round has you sliding down white ropes and grabbing carrots. The best plan here is to stay on the far right side of the screen to find the 1-Up. The second bonus round has you swimming to the right; your goal is simply to make it all the way to the right and get the 1-Up and the Bell. The third bonus round has you bouncing to the right on springs placed un- comfortably close to Gogo Dodos; the farther to the right you bounce, the more 1-Ups and other items you find. Here's how to find the first three hidden bonus rounds: Stage 1: Play the area in the lower-right corner of the map, directly below the red "boss" area. When you find Gogo Dodo at the far right side of the area, drop to the ground and go right past the rats to find the rainbow symbol. Stage 2: Play the area that has the word "Tiny" spelled out with carrots. Go past TINY and walk right to the edge of the cliff (with the can on the ground). Drop off the cliff and steer left to land in the hidden tunnel. Walk left and grap the 1-Up and Bell, then walk left again and drop onto the rainbow symbol. Stage 3: Paly the area that has a waterfall that splits and flows left and right. Play through the area until you walk onto the ledge that starts moving upward. Jump and hit the bats that attack you, then jump off the ledge before you're smashed into the ceiling. Follow the tunnel to the left until you reach the gray platforms. Drop down the platforms to the half-pipe with a rolling boulder. Walk left and jump into the wall on the left side of the half-pipe to enter a hidden tunnel. The rainbow symbol is at the end of the tunnel. T. M. N. T. - HYPERSTONE HEIST ============================== Stage & Select Areas - Wait for the Konami logo. As soon as it starts forming on the screen, put in the first code. Press these buttons in this order: C, B, B, A, A, A, B, C. Make sure you do it quickly before the logo disappears. If not start over. Now press START. The title screen will show up. Now press these buttons in this order: A, B, B, C, C, C, B, A. After you do this, press the START button on the 1 or 2 player option. A screen will appear that allows you to choose your stage and area. Press START to play after making your selection. TOEJAM AND EARL =============== Hidden Level - It is possible to get to an island with pretty hula girl inviting you in for a hot bath, and a lemonade stand to provide you with extra life. To do it, get to the bottom, left of the islnd, activate either Icarus Wings, or the Inner Tube to get over the water. Then go through (or over) the water and you'll find the hidden island. Fall through the hole in the center of the island and you'll be in the Hidden level. There, in level zero, you can be healed (in the hot tub) and receive an extra life (by drinking lemonade). When you leave level 0, you will return to the highest level you have visited. Secret Island on Level 1 - In addition to the island with the hole described above, there is another island on the upper right of the level that has many presents on it. One Extra Life & Fill up Your Energy - Play until you get an inner tube, rocket skates or Icarus wings. Next fall back to level One and open a present with any one of these items. Fly, skate or float to the bottom left corner of the screen to the island and fall through the center of the island. You will be at Level Zero. Now go to the lemonade stand and drink the lemonade, then go to the hot tub and jump in. It will fill up your life. Fall off the edge and you will be transported to the highest level you have been on during the game. Sneak up on Santa Claus - Wait until Santa is looking into his bag, and then tip-toe up to him. If Santa looks up, freeze until he looks back into his bag. Then tip-toe towards him some more. If you reach him successfully, he'll drop presents for you. This will return your picture to normal, but the code is still in effect (and will remain this way until you turn the Genesis off). Anyway, start a game against the computer and play! You will soon discover many oddities in the game play. TROUBLE SHOOTER =============== Stage Select - Plug in controller 1, get to the title screen where it allows you to choose to start or go to an option screen. On controller 2, press START, RIGHT and C at the same time. You will see a stage select option come up in between the title words. Press START, RIGHT and C again to advance stage numbers. Timing is very critical. TRUXTON ======= Pause Bombs - When you use a Destroyer Bomb, pause the game. Leave it paused for about 20 seconds, or else pause and unpause quickly. This will make the bomb do much more damage. Extra Lives - During the game, you'll see an oval object that has three little circles above it. Look at the color of the circles above the object. If the color of you weapon matches the color of the circles, you can shoot the object and get a one- or two-up! TURRICAN ======== Customize Options - Go to the options screen and move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. Hold the pad DOWN and press A, B, B, A, B, A, A, B, A, A, B, A, A. An extra menu will let you modify weapons, lives, power and stage select. If the option menu doesn't appear, press Up and repeat the button sequence again. TWIN COBRA ========== Stage Select - At the Title Screen, press START to get the green Options Screen. Now press Up, Down, Right, Left, and then hit START. You will now be able to select from any of the game's 10 levels. Powered Up Shots - Start the game, pause, and press U, D, R, L, in order; then unpause while holding A. This will immediately power up your weapon to near maximum. Extra Bombs - Start the game, then PAUSE. Now press Up, Down, Right, Left. Hold down B, and then unPAUSE the game and you will have 8 bombs. You can repeat this trick as often as you like.
